Gift cards are the perfect gift for those ‘hard to buy for’ family and friends. This year alone, we'll splurge $1.5 billion dollars on them, much of it in the lead up to Christmas. But 20% are never used so it’s a windfall for retailers and money down the drain for customers. .......
With $300 million spent on unwanted vouchers, new website Card Limbo, where you can buy; swap and sell gift cards, could be the answer. CEO Fergus Koochew says, “The price we'll pay for the gift card will depend on the popularity of it and the number of remaining valid days. The more popular gift cards, for example Coles Group and Myer, Woolworths and Wish Gift Card, we're currently buying at around 90 per cent”.
